After a goalless First Half Leeds brought on Mark Beeney for Nigel Martyn in goal and Lucas Radebe for Richard Jobson at Centre Half for the start of the Second Half. There had been no score as the game reached the hour mark and Leeds sent on Robert Bowman for Andy Couzens at Right Back and Ian Harte for Harry Kewell at Left Back. In the sixty-fourth minute Leeds took the with a goal from the newly introduced Bowman. A minute later Andy Gray replaced Lee Matthews at Inside Left. The changes kept coming as they brought on Paul Beesley for David Wetherall at Left Half and Mark Tinkler for Lee Bowyer at Outside Left in the seventy-first minute.They got their second goal in the seventy-fourth minute as Rod Wallace found the net, but there was still time Jason Blunt to replace Ian Rush five minutes later and Williams to come on for Mark Ford with four minutes left on the clock. Grimsby made a triple substitution in the seventy-third minute when Ashley Fickling replaced Richard Smith, Craig Shakespeare replaced Neil Webb and Darren Wrack came on for Stephen Livingstone. Jeff Winter of Middlesbrough was the Referee.

Profile:

John McDermott was born in Middlesbrough on 3rd February 1969. Of slight physique he was 5'7" and 10st and joined Grimsby as a Youth, signing professional in June 1987. Once he had found his best position was Right Back he became a regular in that position and went on to become one of the few players who remained with one club and topped the seven hundred mark in all games. He played his final game for Grimsby at Shrewsbury Town on 5th May 2007 and had started six hundred and twenty-eight League games and come off the bench in a further twenty-one and scored ten goals. In addition he scored twice in thirty-five starts and three substitute appearances in the F.A. Cup, forty-one starts and two substitute appearances in the League Cup and twenty four starts in other games. He joined Harrogate Town as Assistant Manager in July 2010.
